A Stroll Around Richmond: 10 Things to See & Do

6 February 2025

Our home of Richmond, in South West London, is one of the most beautiful areas of London. Away from the stressful hustle of central London, it’s a vibrant neighbourhood alongside the River Thames, with lovely independent shops - like Feather & Stitch! - as well as lots of history (royalty have always loved it here), and plenty of open green spaces.

There’s no better way to get acquainted with Richmond than with a walk around its top sites. So don your comfy shoes, get your phone ready for some selfies, and let us take you on a walking tour of our favourite places in Richmond!

Richmond Theatre

Richmond is easily accessible from anywhere in London with transport via tube or bus. So the underground station is a great place to start your stroll.

After leaving the station by the main entrance, cross the road and walk left for a short while until you see a small alley next to Yo! Sushi. Head down here and then turn left when you get onto Little Green road. Continue walking until you reach the green, and opposite you will see the lovely Richmond Theatre. The Victorian building is Grade II Listed and one of the best-preserved London examples of architect Frank Matcham’s work. They have a great programme of live theatre, comedians, talks, and more. You can also book a tour.

Peggy Jean Daisy Green

No. 1a Duke St. and Debraggio

Any walk needs plenty of coffee stops, so next we’re off to get some refreshments.

Continue down Little Green and take the next left onto Duke Street to find No. 1a Duke Street, a bar and restaurant that also makes a great coffee stop. Beautifully contemporary, this lively independent restaurant serves food and drink all day, so you can drop in for a quick refreshment, or book for a longer meal.

Alternatively, next door is Debraggio Italian kitchen, which serves incredible authentic food and has a deli so you can take some treats back home.

Gelateria Danieli

If you’re ready to top off your meal with a sweet treat, then we’ll take you to Gelateria Danieli next. Retrace your footsteps onto The Green and turn left, keeping Richmond Green on your right. Keep an eye out for Danieli’s opposite the green. The corner cafe serves wonderful coffee, hot chocolate and milkshakes, but if you head down Brewer’s Lane, you’ll also find the fantastic gelateria for tasty ice cream.

Brewer’s Lane

TikTok-famous Brewer’s Lane is very much worth exploring. Highlighted as one of the best places in London to visit, the narrow lane is reminiscent of York’s famous Shambles. It’s full of quaint old buildings and hanging signs that transport you right back into ye olde England. There are some lovely independent shops here, including art galleries and jewellers. Enjoy a bit of window shopping or treat yourself to a gift.

Ted Lasso pub

Ted Lasso Store

If you’re a fan of the Apple Original series Ted Lasso, then you might be in Richmond just for that! If not, the official Ted Lasso Store is still well worth a visit.

Inspired by the feel-good TV show, the store was set up as a shop, community and hub for fans. It’s a really positive place and you can pick yourself up some Ted Lasso football merch while you’re at it!

To reach the store from Brewer’s Lane, squeeze back out onto The Green then turn left and follow the road until you see The Cricketers pub. Veer left onto the pedestrian area and onto Paved Court, keeping The Princes Head on your left.

Feather & Stitch

Now on to our favourite place in Richmond - our own boutique! Continue down the pretty Paved Court and onto King Street. Turn right, and in no time at all you’ll be standing in front of our little store, all pretty in pink. Pop in to say hello and have a browse through some of our beautiful and unique Danish fashion while you’re at it.

Sebastian’s Italian and Sticks'n'Sushi

After some well-deserved retail therapy and some great new looks for your wardrobe, you’re probably ready to re-fuel with some lunch. Just a couple of doors down from Feather & Stitch is a lovely restaurant called Sebastian’s Italian which offers both indoor and outdoor seating. The cuisine is delicious, too, and we recommend booking so you’re not disappointed.

Alternatively, continue along King Street to the old House of Fraser building where you’ll find Sticks’n’Sushi serving great classic sushi in a modern minimalist setting.

River Thames at Richmond

The White Cross - “The Pub That Floods”

Let’s head down to the river now via Water Lane, a characterful cobbled street that leads you right to the water’s edge. As you get to the slipway, you can wash down your lunch with a pint at the famous riverside pub, the White Cross. Known as “the pub that floods”, if you visit at high tide (or just before), you’ll be provided with complimentary wellies. Then, sit back and enjoy the unique experience of drinking a pint on the terrace while the water of the Thames rises around your feet.

Richmond Bridge

Finally, let’s wrap up our walk around Richmond with one of its most famous sites: Richmond Bridge. Head out of the White Cross and wander left along the riverside until you spot the unmistakable 18th-century stone arch bridge. This is a popular Instagram spot, so don’t forget to get your phone out for a snap. Richmond Bridge is the oldest surviving Thames bridge in London and was built to replace a ferry crossing - once the only way of getting between Richmond and Twickenham across the river!
